Bryke Interview
After the finale of Avatar the Last Airbender, fans were not sure how the amazing story would continue. There had been rumors of spin off shows, graphic novels, and an online mini series. Fortunately, the story of Aang continues in comic form thanks to Nickelodeon and Dark Horse Comics. Writer Gene Luen Yang works closely with the co creators to develop young adult stories, which not only answer many of the fans’ big questions, but also bridges the gap between Aang and the Avatar’s recent reincarnation; Korra.

At first, the idea of continuing the Avatar universe decades after Aang's time wasn't completely popular with some fans. However, that all soon changed. The Legend of Korra has had amazing success from the beginning. With a drive to continue to develop their fascinating world, Mike and Bryan succeeded in crafting a new Avatar. The Avatar’s reincarnation challenges Hollywood’s conventional ideas. Korra is a young woman full of ambition and moxie. Unlike Aang, she has known for a long time that she was the Avatar reincarnation. Her struggle with maturing into a reliable Avatar metaphorically echoes the difficulties we all face growing up(regardless of gender). Even with an "unconventional hero", The Legend of Korra continues to pull in superior ratings.

It's been 5 years since the last time had the chance to interview co creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko (Avatar the Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra). This new time in the Avatar cycle has refueled interest in the Avatar's universe. Because of this, pooled together a list of questions for the creators about The Legend of Korra. It gives us great pleasure to present this recent interview with Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Enjoy!

Feel free to join us in this thread on the forum if you are inspired to discuss the information revealed in the interview.

Update: Bryan mentioned the interview in his tumblr, and he also drew a cool little doodle, which we've now included here too. Go to Bryan's tumblr to see the image full-sized.
